Incoming money can disappear too

ADHD budget problems are not only about overspending. Refund forms, paper checks, expense reports, insurance claims, and reimbursement receipts can all get lost in the shuffle.

Money is not truly available until it lands in the account. A refund you meant to request can quietly become a loss.

Create a money-to-collect list

Keep a separate list for money that should come back to you. Include the amount, deadline, required document, and next action.

Make the next action concrete: submit receipt, deposit check, email payroll, upload claim, or confirm refund status. Vague reminders are easier to ignore.

Track expected money without spending it early

Expected money should be visible, but it should not be treated like confirmed income until it arrives. That distinction protects the budget from accidental overspending.

ADHD-friendly money management is not just about plugging spending leaks. It is also about making sure money owed to you finds its way home.
