Separate fixed and flexible money
Start by separating bills, rent, subscriptions, savings, and other planned costs from flexible spending. Flexible spending is the money you make decisions about day to day.
This keeps the daily number from being distorted by large bills that are already planned.
Divide what remains
After planned costs and spent flexible money are accounted for, divide the remaining flexible budget by the days left in the month.
The result is not a strict allowance. It is a signal that helps you pace spending before the end of the month arrives.
Adjust instead of quitting
If you overspend one day, the next daily number should adjust. That feedback is more useful than a red warning that makes you abandon the system.
Good budgeting tools should help you continue, not punish you for normal life.
